Admissions

The admissions round for children joining Reception in September 2019 opens on 1st November 2018. It closes on 15th January 2019.  If your child was born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015 you should apply for a school place.   If you would like to visit Deneholm Primary School before making an application for a Reception place for 2019 please phone the school office (01375 373405) to make an appointment. Visit days are 2nd October, 22nd November or 10th January.

Applications received after the closing date are treated as late applications. This means there will be far less chance of your child being offered a place at the school you want.

Please take the time to read our primary admissions brochure and then follow the instructions for applying.  This link will take you to the admissions area of Thurrock Council's website:

Starting School for the first time

We have a comprehensive induction programme which runs throughout the summer term prior to the children joining our school in the following September.

 Induction activities include:

  • Reception Induction Meeting for all reception parents to see the school and receive up to date information on the year ahead.
  • Story times and activity times for pupils and parents in the summer term before the children start.
  • Home visits by the Reception team as the children start school in September.

Joining the school later on

Sometimes children join the school when the term has started or later on in their school life. We make every effort to make sure they feel welcomed and are looked after to ensure that their start is as smooth as possible and they quickly make friends and settle. Again, mid-year admissions are managed by Thurrock Council.

Moving on – transfer to secondary school

Children go on to secondary school in September following their eleventh birthday. Information can be found on Thurrock Council's website.
